Our Privacy Policy

We ask fundraisers to tell us things they would not say under their own name. That only works if we are precise about what we hold, and plain about what we do not.

The End of Charity is published by Rayeon Associates, in collaboration with Wish Fairy Incorporated. Rayeon Associates is the organization responsible for personal information collected through the Project, and in this policy 'we', 'us' and 'our' mean Rayeon Associates.

This policy covers endofcharity.com, The State of the Canadian Fundraiser Survey, the separate report and prize draw form, and any correspondence you send us. Last updated 1 November 2026.

This website collects nothing

endofcharity.com runs no analytics, no advertising pixels, no tracking cookies, and no third-party scripts of any kind. We do not know who visits, how often, or from where. There is no banner to dismiss because there is nothing to consent to. Our web host keeps standard server logs, as every host does, and we do not access or analyse them.

The survey

The State of the Canadian Fundraiser Survey is anonymous. We do not ask for your name, your employer, your email address, or your IP address, and we have configured the form so that none of these are captured. Nobody, including us, can trace a completed response back to the person who submitted it.

The survey does ask for information that is sensitive: your salary band, your racial or ethnic identity, your gender identity, whether you identify as a person with a disability, your age range, whether you have experienced discrimination at work, and free-text answers in your own words. We ask because a core purpose of this research is to measure whether this work is experienced differently across those lines, and that cannot be done without the data. Every one of those questions offers a 'prefer not to say' option, and choosing it is a legitimate answer that we report as given.

Providing any of it is voluntary. You can close the form at any point and nothing is recorded. Because responses are anonymous, we cannot locate and delete an individual submission once it has been sent, as there is nothing in it that identifies you. Please do not enter your own name, a colleague's name, or any other identifying detail in the free-text boxes.

The report and prize draw form

This is a separate form, and it collects only your email address and your choice of what you would like to receive. It is stored apart from the survey responses, in a different dataset, and the two can never be joined. Submitting it tells us that somebody wants the report. It does not tell us how that person answered the survey.

We use your email address to send you the published report, to administer the prize draw, and to notify you if you win. We do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or share it with any funder, sponsor, partner, or advertiser. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time by writing to the address at the foot of this page.

Correspondence

If you email us a lived experience, a topic suggestion, or an advisory enquiry, we hold that email and your address until the matter is finished. We do not read letters sent for broadcast on air as consent to broadcast them. We will ask you before using anything you send, and we will honour a request to be anonymous or to withdraw.

Where it is stored, and who else is involved

Both forms run on Tally, hosted in the European Union and operating under the GDPR. Tally processes the data on our instructions and does not use it for its own purposes. Our website host and our email provider process data in the ordinary course of delivering those services. We use no other processors, no customer relationship management system, and no marketing automation platform.

How long we keep it

Anonymous survey responses are retained indefinitely as a research dataset, because the value of this work is in comparing one year against the next. We may publish aggregated findings and anonymised quotations from free-text answers. Email addresses collected for the report and the prize draw are deleted within twelve months of the report's publication, or immediately on request. Correspondence is deleted once the matter it concerns is closed.

Your rights

You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and withdraw a consent you previously gave. Write to the address below and we will respond within thirty days. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to the privacy regulator for your province: the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, or the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

The one request we cannot fulfil is deletion of an individual survey response, for the reason given above. That limitation is a consequence of the anonymity, not an exception to it.

Who is responsible

Changes

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is material and we hold your email address, we will tell you directly before it takes effect.
